You are a light
living through a body.

Benoît Teichi

Books about remembering who you are. A simple philosophy of conscious living, and a daily practice to bring it into ordinary life.

If you are new to this

A gentle way in

You don’t need to know anything to begin. You only need to notice.

Have you ever noticed that there is a part of you that simply watches? When you are angry, something in you knows you are angry. When you are sad, something sees the sadness. You feel everything, and yet a quiet part of you is always there, noticing.

That quiet part is what I call the Observer, the light in you. And the part that lives, feels, loves, gets hurt, laughs and gets tired is the Lover: your body, your human life.

Most of us live only as the Lover. We forget the Observer is there.

That is what these books are about: remembering, little by little, that the Observer and the Lover are one.

Noticing is the first step. The rest unfolds on its own.

The light in you

The Observer

It comes from the Whole, returns to it, and already knows. It witnesses everything you live.

The body

The Lover

The vessel the light lives through, with its senses, its desire and its days. Never just a tool.

Awake

The Participant

When the Observer and the Lover live as one, you take part in your human life with a quiet knowing underneath.

A note from the author

Why “the Lover”?

The Observer and the Lover are not two people. They are one person, separated for a while so that we can forget, and then remember.

I call the body the Lover because love is its way home. When we believe we are only the body, we live in “me, me, me.” We see separation everywhere, in other people and in ourselves, and forgiveness feels almost impossible.

It is not an easy path. But each time the Lover chooses love, first for itself, then for others, even for the people who hurt it, the separation softens. Little by little, it comes back to the light it always was.

This is what being awake means to me: the Lover and the Observer knowing each other as one. It is not a bright revelation. It is subtle, a quiet knowing underneath an ordinary human life. And from that knowing, you take part in your life consciously.

About the author

Benoît Teichi

Benoît was born in France and grew up between cultures. He trained as a designer and now lives in Los Angeles.

He did not set out to write a book for profit. He wrote what he felt and went through in his own life, until it became a way of seeing: that each of us is a light living a full human life, and that awakening is simply remembering it.

The Observer and the Lover is his first book. Don’t Dig Up the Seed is its companion for daily practice.
